9/11 Day and National Youth Leadership Council Unveil Groundbreaking Peacebuilding Pilot Program Empowering Underserved Youth
The National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC) proudly announces the launch of an innovative pilot program, “Peacebuilding in Action,” aimed at empowering underserved youth through transformative service-learning experiences. In collaboration with 9/11 Day, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering unity, empathy, and service, this initiative marks a significant step towards building a more peaceful and united society.
Set to kick off in February 2024 and run through September 2024, Peacebuilding in Action represents a unique opportunity for diverse teams of young leaders in underserved communities across the United States. This program will not only address community needs but also inspire positive change through hands-on projects, mentorship, and community engagement.
Key Program Features:
- Youth-led Community Projects: Participants will engage in hands-on service-learning projects designed to address specific needs within their communities, fostering a sense of agency and social responsibility.
- Mentorship and Community Engagement: The program will provide a platform for youth to actively contribute to positive change, with mentorship opportunities to guide their growth as leaders.
- Professional Development: Both student leaders and adult mentors will undergo tailored professional development, driving innovation and collaboration within their communities.
Amy Meuers, CEO at NYLC, expressed enthusiasm for the program’s potential impact, stating, “By investing in the leadership and civic engagement of our youth, we believe this program will not only contribute to building a more peaceful and united society but also honor the spirit of unity that emerged in the aftermath of 9/11.”
As a new initiative under NYLC’s Youth as Solutions program, Peacebuilding in Action is poised to make a lasting impact by instilling values of unity, empathy, and civic responsibility in the next generation of leaders.
