NYLC’s Board governs the organization, providing strategic input and feedback to NYLC’s CEO, overseeing financial performance, and making concrete contributions to organizational impact. Board members live all around the US (and abroad!), study and work across a range of professional industries, and also span age groups – our organizational bylaws dictate that the Board must include a minimum of four youth members, aged 24 or younger. But all Board members share a common passion for youth leadership, youth voice, and service learning.
NYLC continuously welcomes applications to join the Board of Directors. Note that we use a phased onboarding approach, whereby qualified candidates first serve on a Board committee, and may subsequently be invited to join the full Board as a voting member.
Our Nominations committee conducts a careful review of all applications, and welcomes a select group of candidates to join one of our three Board committees (Partnerships, Development, or Technology). Committee members are not yet voting Board members, but make contributions to their committee work and are invited to full Board meetings. After a period of committee service, committee members may be invited to join the voting Board when we welcome new members annually (in September of each year).
