Real youth engagement isn’t a seat at the table, it’s a hand on the wheel. Too often, civic education programs talk about young people instead of building real partnerships with them. This session brings together leaders who are doing it differently, working alongside youth as co-designers and decision-makers, not just participants. They’ll discuss what authentic youth-adult partnership actually looks like in practice: shared ownership over program design, honest conversations about power and trust, and the structures that make space for young people’s voices to shape outcomes, not just inform them. Attendees will leave with practical strategies for building partnerships where adults and youth lead together, and a clearer sense of what changes when civic education stops being something done for young people and starts being something built with them.
