National Service-Learning Award Winners to be Honored at the 35th Annual National Service-Learning Conference
Exemplary champions of service-learning will be celebrated at the 35th Annual National Service-Learning Conference on April 4, 2024. The event will recognize the outstanding efforts of individuals dedicated to fostering civic engagement and social responsibility through innovative service-learning initiatives.
The National Service-Learning Award winners for 2024 have been selected for their exceptional contributions to the field of service-learning, embodying the spirit of community service and inspiring positive change in their communities. These honorees represent a diverse array of backgrounds and initiatives, each making a profound impact through their commitment to service and learning.
“We are thrilled to announce the recipients of the National Service-Learning Awards for 2024,” said Amy Meuers, CEO of the National Youth Leadership Council. “These individuals have demonstrated remarkable dedication to promoting service-learning as a powerful tool for addressing societal challenges and empowering individuals to become active citizens.”
The award categories and recipients are as follows:
Alec Dickson Servant Leader Award: Dr. Robert Shumer, Metropolitan State University
Evan Dalgaard Leadership Award: Research to Empower team – Grace C. Liu; Jessica C. Liu; Scout Chen; and Margaret Zhang
Service-Learning Practitioner Leadership Award: Stacy Chalmers, Lower School Civic Engagement Coordinator
Youth Leadership for Service-Learning Excellence Award: Girls Empowerment Movement, Sage Hill School team – Aashna Sharma, Anna Yang, Chanah Yin, Claire Casey, Courtney Tetteh-Martey, Evelyn Wang, Fiori Lee, Mirabelle Jiang, Sherine Assif, Alia Sajjadian, Anna Lin, Anne Chen, Carisa Koh, Isabella Palacio, Jaclynn Lee, Jamie Parrot, Priya Bhakta, Riley Robinson
The National Service-Learning Awards ceremony will take place during the 35th Annual National Service-Learning Conference, a premier gathering of educators, community leaders, students, and policymakers dedicated to advancing the field of service-learning. This year’s conference theme, “From Passion to Action,” underscores the transformative potential of service-learning in creating positive change at the local, national, and global levels. The award ceremony will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Saint Paul RiverCentre, St. Paul, MN.
