How have State Afterschool Networks used service-learning as a strategy for out-of-school programs?

We assist State Afterschool Networks in identifying the information needed to build a sustainable model for service-learning integration that will increase the quantity and quality of service-learning experiences for young people. Selected states received funding, technical support, and trainings so that service-learning becomes a sustainable and systematic part of afterschool learning.

We are excited to announce new partnerships in 2024 with State Afterschool Networks as champions of service-learning in their state!

We are grateful to the Charles Mott Foundation, which supports this important effort to grow service-learning in the out-of-school space across the country.

“NYLC is our partner in championing service-learning in afterschool programs across Tennessee. For us, service-learning is an important strategy to support our kids academically, through career exploration, and leadership development. It grows the power of youth voice and helps our communities grow better citizens.”
