Information We Collect
We may collect personally identifiable information from you, such as your name, school or organization affiliation, position, address and/or geographical location, demographic information and email address when you interact with our websites to sign up for e-mail newsletters, create an account on one of our community sites or make purchases.
When you create an account on one of our community websites, such as the Generator School network (“GSN”), we may also display some of your user profile information to other users. For those under 18 years of age, we generally do not knowingly display your zip code, age or demographic information particular to your school or organization. However, providing that additional profile information helps us to better understand how our websites are being used, so we can make them better. Our websites that require users to create accounts and provide profile information also allow you to update and/or delete your profile information on those sites.
We may also collect other information when you visit our websites, such as your computer’s Internet protocol (“IP”) address, your browser and operating system, the date and time of your visit, and data based on your use of our websites. We collect this information to maintain and enhance the performance and services of our websites.
How We Share the Information We Collect
We may disclose the personally identifiable information that we collect when required by law or where we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order, or legal process served on us.
In the event that NYLC goes through certain business transitions, such as a merger or dissolution, your personally identifiable information may be part of the assets transferred.
We take industry-standard, reasonable precautions to protect the personally identifiable information we collect, including the use of administrative, technical and physical safeguards and expect our partner organizations to do the same.
Community Websites and Other Forums
Our websites may offer you the ability to make postings, share information on bulletin boards, send user-to-user messages or participate in other interactive forums. Any information you transmit online in such forums may be made public, and NYLC cannot control nor is it responsible for the way any others may use such information
Communications from NYLC
If you have created an account on one of our community websites or requested one or more of our e-mail newsletters, from time to time, we may send you email notifications to provide you with those newsletters or other information concerning updates or enhancements to our services, account issues or service-related announcements. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may follow the instructions provided on the messages, change your subscription preferences at www.nylc.org/subscribe or deactivate your account, according to the instructions on our community websites.
External Links to Third Party Websites
Our websites may contain links or references to other parties’ sites. We are not responsible for the privacy policies or other practices of any such outside sites and expressly disclaim any and all liability related to such sites.
