Welcoming New Board Members

We’re expanding…our board that is.

Later this month, five brand new board members will begin their three-year journey with us.

Say hello to: Kevin Days, Sustainable Futures Public Charter Schools; Andrew Furco, University of Minnesota; Greg Herder, Mounds View Public Schools; Antwayn Hunter, Intermediate District 287; and Shira Woolf-Cohen, New Foundations Charter School.

Oh, and more in exciting news, we’re adding another honorary board member to our ranks and it’s no other than Ms. Nontombi Naomi Tutu. Yes…of those Tutus. Last year, Tutu shared her wisdom on the plenary stage as a keynote speaker for #SLC16. NYLC is ever so chuffed to have her.

“The NYLC Board of Directors is delighted to welcome a group of new board members, including honorary board member Naomi Tutu, who bring deep expertise and experience that will enhance NYLC’s longstanding work in developing school and community partnerships for youth leadership and civic engagement,” said Board Chair Amy Cohen. “When young people learn about civic and community issues and take positive action based on that knowledge, we strengthen local communities today and in the future. We are fortunate to have brought new members to our organization who will heighten NYLC’s ability to meet that commitment.”

Like we said, we’re pretty lucky people.
