YAC Create Positive Social Change

NYLC is excited to announce our new Youth Advisory Council members for 2016-2018. The YAC is a group of students from across the country who work to improve education equity through Youth4Education, partner with NYLC staff on joint projects, and bring valuable perspective to all that we do. The mission of the YAC is to exemplify servant-leadership while advising NYLC programs through shared decision-making to transform communities and create positive social change in the world.

Meet the YAC: Erin Gamba, Southwest Guilford High School, NC; Beza Gebremariam, Duke University, NC; Lakshmi Immaneni, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, NC; Ananya Singh, Morris County School of Technology, NJ; Solomon Stovall-Ceja, High Tech High Media Arts, CA; Satish Uppaluri, Eden Prairie High School, MN; and Ricky Yoo, North Gwinnett High School, GA.

Staying on for a second-term is Connor Kirkpatrick, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC, and Sheridan Sumouske, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO. Connor and Sheridan will serve as mentors for this new YAC.

The YAC kick off their year next month as part of the National Youth Leadership Training — NYLC’s longest running initiative and a key part of Youth4Education. We can’t wait to see what this cohort does within their schools and communities!
