NYLC Partners with Education Commission of the States and National Center for Learning and Civic Engagement to Deliver Districts in Action
Advancing Student Success through Policy and Practice
The National Youth Leadership Council is honored to announce its partnership with The National Center for Learning and Civic Engagement at the Education Commission of the States in Districts in Action: Advancing Student Success through Policy and Practice. This joint project will engage school districts of varying characteristics and levels of experience with community focused service-learning in a unique collaboration designed to support and enhance specific district-determined strategic priorities.
“We are delighted to partner with NCLCE and Education Commission of the States on Districts in Action,” says NYLC Interim CEO Amy Meuers. “This project will provide students an opportunity to share their voice while applying their academic skills to real community needs through service-learning. Together we will enhance the learning experience and outcomes for students.”
Districts in Action will advance education equity while enhancing and supporting identified district priorities and student civic engagement. The program’s multi-pronged focus on policy, practice, and leadership addresses achievement and civic empowerment gaps through the introduction of high-quality, community-focused, service-learning supporting measurable academic and civic outcomes.
“Education Commission of the States and NYLC bring a wide range of complementary strengths to the Districts in Action project,” said Paul Baumann, the Director of NCLCE. “Through our collaboration and cooperation we hope to strengthen academic and civic learning outcomes in participating districts, and help education leaders understand how to better support engaging learning opportunities for all students.”
